On October 10th, 2019, as part of the implementation of the cross-border project (HU-HR) „Common tourism development of natural and cultural assets of Suhopolje–Noskovačka Dubrava-Zselic Starry Park“, acronym ‘Tourism 4 All’, at the Informational Educational Center – Hostel „Drava story“ in Noskovci, Public institution for management of protected parts of nature and ecological network of Virovitica-Podravina County in cooperation with Virovitica-Podravina County and SEFAG Forest Management and Wood Industry Share Co., held the Conference – “Tourism potentials of cross-border protected areas of nature”.
The conference started with a welcome speech by Tatjana Arnold Sabo, Director of the Public institution for management of protected parts of nature and ecological network of Virovitica-Podravina County and the presentation of the “Tourism 4 All” project. The presentation of the project was followed by various lectures presenting the tourism potential of the cross-border protected nature parts of both Counties.
Josip Mikolčić, from Tourist board of Virovitica-Podravina County, gave a presentation – Welcome to Virovitica-Podravina County, Zita Kovácsné Kiss, SEFAG Zrt., gave a presentation on the subject Tourist destinations in the forest areas of Somogy County, Helena Hegediš from Virovitica-Podravina County, presented the ‘Visitor center – Janković Castle’ in Suhopolje, and Vladimir Ajhler, Public institution for management of protected parts of nature and ecological network of Virovitica-Podravina County, presented the project Revitalization of the park in Suhopolje.
The following lecture was held by Ana Blatančić from Virovitica-Podravina County, in which she presented the Heritage Hotel Kurija Janković while the Director of the Public institution for management of protected parts of nature and ecological network of Virovitica-Podravina County, Tatjana Arnold Sabo, presented the Visitor center Drava story.
Later during the Conference, Zita Kovácsné Kiss, SEFAG Zrt., gave a lecture on the subject Cooperation in the field of tourism in Croatia and Hungary, and Juraj Randelj and Iva Blažev, from Virovitica College, gave a presentation – Presentment of a joint tourism product.
At the end of the presentations, a discussion was held, and the following conclusions were reached:
With ‘Tourism 4 All’ project, a cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism in cross-border protected areas of nature is enabled. Good cooperation is the basis of the new tourism products that these two countries have to offer. The richness of natural values and traditions (cultural, sacral, gastronomic, oenological…) is a platform for the development of attractive tourist products in the territory of both countries, which will contribute to the sustainable economic development of the area along the river Drava and promote nature-friendly forms of tourism.
